Sacred Experience

Sacred Experience is a deeply cultural and spiritual journey through some of the most emblematic religious spaces in Puebla. We begin by admiring the most important places inside the Holy Cathedral, including the Altar of the Kings with its frescoes by Cristóbal de Villalpando.

Then we enter the Palafoxiana Library, with its more than 45,000 volumes and its UNESCO recognition as Memory of the World. From there, we leave the building to admire the Post Office building, which was constructed as part of Iturbide’s effort to modernize the country.

The route continues on foot to the Capilla del Rosario, considered the eighth wonder of the New World and located within the Temple of Santo Domingo. We also visit the Church of San Cristóbal, a jewel of New Spanish Baroque with a façade carved in gray cantera stone.

A special stop is made at the Temple of San Roque, an important inspiration for the latest book by Mtro. Merlo. The experience may conclude with a suggested meal, since Puebla’s cuisine is the result of a fusion between centuries of Arab influence in Spain and the ingredients and inspiration of Mesoamerica.

Una Experiencia Religiosa es un recorrido profundamente cultural y espiritual por algunos de los espacios religiosos más emblemáticos de Puebla. Comenzamos admirando los lugares más importantes dentro de la Santa Iglesia Catedral, incluyendo el Altar de los Reyes con sus pinturas al fresco de Cristóbal de Villalpando.

Después entramos a la Biblioteca Palafoxiana, con sus más de 45,000 volúmenes y su reconocimiento de la UNESCO como Memoria del Mundo. A la salida del inmueble, admiramos la Oficina de Correos, construida como parte del esfuerzo de Iturbide por modernizar el país.

La ruta continúa a pie hasta la Capilla del Rosario, considerada la octava maravilla del Nuevo Mundo y ubicada en el Templo de Santo Domingo. También visitamos la Iglesia de San Cristóbal, joya del barroco novohispano con una fachada labrada en cantera gris.

Se hace una visita especial al templo de San Roque, inspiración del último libro del Mtro. Merlo. La experiencia puede concluir con una comida sugerida, ya que la gastronomía de la Ciudad de Puebla es el resultado de la fusión entre los siglos de dominación árabe en España y la inspiración e ingredientes de Mesoamérica.
